I made it my goal to just be healthier in general at the beginning of this year. I wanted to start a much need wellness journey that covered every area in my life.
Losing weight & eating right were of course on my list of goals, but it went much further than that. I wanted to clean my act up overall- ditch any harmful products I was wasting money on, get safer cleaning products (for not only my health but for Eva’s as well) & to actually help others do the same. I’ve learned a lot so far on this journey- especially about the personal care industry.
I was introduced to BeautyCounter through a friend of mine & then again by my now BeautyCounter mentor. I knew the products were great quality & was very impressed that they had not only makeup but skincare, suncare & baby products as well. And these were all apparently safer. I thought awesome, why not give it a shot. “Safer” products are trending in general so I should hop on this train.
By the way some of my favorite products include: the cleansing balm, charcoal face mask (you NEED this!), melting body balm & the overnight resurfacing peel. I just started using the new Countertime line which includes anti-aging properties with the use of a plant based version of retinol (a combination of bakuchiol & swiss alpine rose) so it’s safe for your skin.
So to be perfectly honest, I joined Beautycounter initially as a consultant because of the awesome discount (and lots of other perks- sneak peaks at new collections, free product incentives & more).
But after really digging into the story behind the brand & the mission of this brand- I was overwhelmed. For instance, did you know that Europe bans over 1400 ingredients to be used in personal care products because they are deemed harmful & not safe. Guess what- the US only bans 30 ingredients. Like whattttttt? How is that even legal?
BeautyCounter has made it their mission to only use safer ingredients in their products.
They personally ban the use of 1500 harmful ingredients. They are very transparent & you can find a list of the ingredients used in their products here. Their mission is to create a future where all beauty products are deemed clean beauty & safe. We should never have to worry about our personal care products & question what we’re putting on our bodies. BeautyCounter also lobbies for stricter guidelines & laws in the personal care industry.
AND on top of that, I learned that some of these harmful ingredients that I’ve been using for years (parabens, oxybenzone, phthalates & formaldehyde to name a few) can be hormone disruptors, cause allergies & even sometimes cancer. I have a few friends that have been suffering with infertility issues lately & it’s heartbreaking. Knowing that the products I use could possibly cause future issues was enough for me to make some clean swaps. PS here’s BeautyCounter’s list of ingredients that you need to be wary of, The Never List.
Plus another HUGE why for me is the financial freedom that this company could help me build.
Living a more freedom based lifestyle where you can make your own work hours & turning a side hustle into a full time income is totally a goal of mine. Not only would I get to play with skincare & beauty products on the reg (literally can’t tell you how OBSESSED I am with personal care products) but make some serious money while doing it = #goals. Another aspect when thinking about starting a family- I actually want to be there & present with my kids instead of always working and never home. This is definitely a long term goal that I am working towards & BeautyCounter can help me get there. Is this one of your goals too- here is some more info about becoming a consultant.
So my why is this- I want & need to advocate for myself for safer personal care products AND building a side business at the same time.
Bottom line- BeautyCounter offers quality products that are just as good, if not better than mainstream luxury skincare & makeup. They provide a way for you to make some extra income. And they are trying to make the world a better place (oh yea, did I mention they are a Certified B Corporation & work to minimize their carbon footprint by using sustainable packaging). What are you waiting for- jump on the BeautyCounter wagon.
