We’re halfway through the summer & I haven’t been to the beach once.
I am dying to get my butt to the beach but I have to be honest- I don’t love the beaches here in CT. Especially the ones in the town I live in. Due to Covid, there are restrictions about what beaches you can visit if you are not a resident of that particular town so I’ll have to get a little creative! Or just suck it up & buy a beach pass for my town’s beaches. But whatever I do, I need to do it fast. Summer is slowly getting away from us.
I celebrated a friend’s birthday this week & made her a super yummy vanilla birthday cake. I used Magnolia Bakery’s recipe from their cookbook The Complete Magnolia Bakery Cookbook. Icing is not my forte so I used store bought- but still the actual cake part was delicious.
I’m still on the hunt for the perfect denim shorts. I had to return the A&F shorts I bought- I could not get them up past my thighs!! I just ordered the 90s Boyfriend distressed denim shorts from American Eagle (which are on sale by the way). Fingers crossed these actually fit!
I was invited to an amazing blogger happy hour at Hummock Island last night. It was so great to catch up with friends I haven’t seen in months. Yes, that’s right- we all met on Instagram & became real life friends. We support & encourage each other always- and have the best time together. And of course we are always throw in a mini photoshoot when we’re together. Thank you to all of our sponsors from last night’s event: She La La, Cafe Agave, South End, Splash of Pink & Type A. And of course the lovely ladies Nina Clarke & Megan Schinella for organizing everything! Check out today’s Instagram post for more about last night’s event!
PS the grey striped dress I was wearing was comfy AF! If you are looking for a cute little midi that’s comfortable & comes in a ton of different color ways- check mine out. And it’s less than $30!
Lastly, I’ve been having the best time experimenting with watercolors. I am going to do some more painting this weekend & then show you what I’ve been working on. I’m finding that these little paintings are bringing me so much peace, expanding my creativity & maybe even be the start to a little side hustle. Can’t wait to share more soon!
