Happy Friday everyone! I wanted to introduce a new monthly series to you all, my Self-Care chronicles.
I think self-care is huge nowadays & seems to be talked about a lot especially in my circle of friends. We all know that we need to take time for ourselves, have some “me time.” But do we actually do it? Do you actually slow down and do something for yourself every once in a while? Most responses are no.
I think women especially take on way too much & try to “do it all.”
We barely take time for ourselves because we are to busy taking care of everyone else. Well it’s time that we all carve out a little time each day or each week & just do something that will make your soul happy. Do something that makes you feel good or that makes you a little bit more calm and relaxed.
Having trouble with grasping the whole self-care situation?
I’m here to help! Each month I’ll talk about ways to practice self-care based on things I do or tips I have picked up from others along the way. Test out what works best for you. For some- getting a manicure every week works. For me it’s doing face masks & reading on a weekly basis. I also try to add in projects or activities every once in a while that I would enjoy. Going to that calligraphy class a few weeks ago was self-care for me.
So this month’s topic is making a vision board for the year! Pick a word for your year & build a vision board around it. Cut out images or sayings from magazines, newspapers or print things out from online. I know it’s totally old school (like you’re wondering why you just can’t make a Pinterest board) but having that board posted up somewhere in your home where you will see it everyday will help motivate you.
Setting your intentions for the year & constantly seeing that board as a reminder, will totally help keep you in a positive headspace. Making the vision board will help you plan your yearly goals & you’ll definitely feel re-energized and excited for the year ahead of you.
My word for this year is: FEARLESS. I have often let fear & doubt hold me back from what I really wanted. I’ve made up my mind that this year I’m really going to go for it. Having my vision board hanging next to the desk where I do my makeup every morning is a total mood lifter. Everytime I see my board, I’m reminded that this is my year for change & to stay in a positive mindset. It’s like looking at a little love note to myself every morning. Starting the day off on a positive not is always helpful & will help set the tone for the rest of your day!
Let me know what your word for the year is & if you’ve made a vision board in the comments below!
Stay tuned for next month’s self-care post!
