For my next installment of my self-care series- I’m talking about spending time with your girlfriends.
This is something that totally makes me feel better & feel complete. Taking time out of your busy schedule to have quality time with friends is so important. Schedule regular meet-ups, even if it’s for coffee or a quick drink after work- make the time! Sometimes just getting out of your normal routine & laughing with a friend is just what you need.
I have been friends with three of my girlfirends since we were 11. We went to middle school & high school together and have stayed close ever since. We all live in CT but in different towns, so we normally have to schedule get togethers pretty far in advance. We try to see each other at least once every other month or so. And whenever we get together all we do is laugh. And vent. And gossip. And eat. And laugh some more!
Getting quality time in together can be such a game changer.
We all have significant others who we have great relationships with, but sometimes you just need to talk to one of your girlfriends. Your lady gang will have different advice than your significant other & they will most likely look at the problem from a different point of view. And sometimes you just need to vent about the men in your life & who better to do that with than your girlfriends!!
For our most recent get together, we did something different!
We took a workout class together & grabbed a quick bite afterwards. Mariam is a long time member of The Bar Method in Darien & was offered a free class for all her besties! Let me tell you- this workout is NO JOKE! It’s so hard, you will literally be shaking during some of these moves. It was so great to not take ourselves seriously & just have fun during class.
Afterwards, we ate right around the corner at Bodega Taco Bar.
This is a great restaurant if you love authentic Mexican food. The taco combinations they offer are unusual & SO GOOD! They also have a great little nook in the back of the restaurant that offers private seating if you have a larger party. The live edge table offers seating comfortably for 10 people. The only complaint I would have is that it’s a little loud. So if you’re looking for a restaurant to have an intimate conversation- this probably isn’t the best place.
Bottom line- grab your girlfriends for some quality, drama free time.
I’m lucky enough to work with one of my besties and we get coffee together every morning to discuss anything & everything. Mostly the trashy TV shows we watch together! My best friend from college lives in the next town over from me & we grab lunch every now and then to catch up. One on one time with your lady gang will do wonders for your mood & can be such a stress reliever. Now go text your besties & grab some cocktails!
