If you haven’t figured out by now, skincare is one of my passions.
And for the past year and a half, I’ve switched all my skincare to cleaner, healthier options. In doing so, my skin has never looked better. You can read more about my skincare journey here.
Just like the seasons, your skin can change depending on your environment. For instance, in the winter- my skin tends to be dryer & at times I get flaky red patches on my cheeks (those have not shown up yet this winter thank god). Therefore, I’m always switching up my products (almost on a daily basis) depending on what mood my skin is in.
I want to share with you what has been working for me so far (all clean recommendations) in hopes that I can help you too find what’s best for your skin. The three sources I trust to get all my non-toxic skincare from are: BeautyCounter, Greenhouse Beauty & The Beauty Barn.
I mix & match products from these amazing companies (each with a completely different offering).
BeautyCounter is my go-to for clean beauty & skincare. Not only are the products great, but BeautyCounter is actively fighting to get better legislation put in place to regulate the chemicals used in personal care products. Greenhouse Beauty is a small local boutique here in CT but you can also shop online. Rachel has extensive knowledge of clean, non-toxic products and can help steer you in the right direction with what is best for your skin. Hannah at The Beauty Barn carries one of my favorite lines- Earth Harbor (all the products smell amazing) & she has been such a great resource in my clean skincare journey.
My Winter Must Haves:
I use this as an overnight mask in the winter months. The extra hydration really helps my dry skin & I find my skin is brighter and dewy in the mornings.
BeautyCounter Countertime Cleansing Oil
I use this cleanser at night- it removes all my makeup & cleanses my skin without stripping it of my natural oils. It contains Bakuchiol, a plant based version of Retinol which helps with fine lines & anti-aging.
I do not go to sleep without slathering my lips with this hydrating lip balm. The shea butter, jojoba oil, avocado oil & meadowfoam seed oil make this balm both calming & super moisturizing.
Ursa Major Golden Hour Recovery Cream
This is my go-to nightly moisturizer when my skin is feeling extra dry. It’s thick, helps reduce redness & soothes irritation. I use this when I get those angry red patches on my skin & they are gone by the next morning!
Dr. Alkaitis Organic Nourishing Treatment Oil
This facial oil is definitely pricey but worth it (I use it sparingly). If I’m feeling extra dry- I’ll mix two pumps of this oil with my favorite toner or essence and pat on my face (morning or night). I’m impressed with how lightweight this oil is & how it even works well under makeup. This is definitely one of my holy grail products that I’ll never go without!
Earth Harbor Natural Marina Brightening Facial Oil
Another fabulous facial oil (more affordable) & helps with redness. This oil is great for all skin types, can be used morning or night, and helps with uneven skin tone. The blue tansy oil especially helps with soothing skin & balancing redness. I highly suggest this product if you want to dip your toes in trying a facial oil.
Earth Harbor Naturals Mermaid Milk Moisturizer
Another great option for a winter moisturizer. I use this mostly at night in conjunction with the Marina facial oil. First of all, it smells amazing! It’s packed with superfoods spirulina & matcha, lightweight enough to be a daytime moisturizer & is great for all skin types.
