Well it has been a minute since I published a blog post! Life has been crazy for all of us & I think taking a step back was much needed.
So where do I start….
Well if you haven’t seen my latest Instagram post- Alex & I are happy to announce that we are expecting! Baby Poirier is due on February 28, 2022. We are over the moon happy & are so grateful we’ve been given our rainbow baby that we’ve been praying for. We are not finding out the gender of the baby- cannot wait for the biggest surprise of our life. Thank you to everyone for the well wishes & congratulations!!
There are so many transitions going on in life right now- both personally & professionally. I’m sure you can relate- the past year & a half has been full of ups and downs. 2020 threw everyone for a loop & we’re all just trying to navigate these crazy times the best we can.
Not only are we adding to our family, but we’ve been busy renovating our new home (or at least trying to). It’s definitely a process & we started way too many projects and have not finished them. If you are a new homeowner & need to re-do your home- just pick a project or two to start. We bit off way more than we can chew and have lost momentum. And then the destruction from Hurricane Ida put a wrench in our plans.
To top it off, I’m trying to run & grow my own business. I’m not going to sugarcoat it, the freelance life is hard. There’s no steady stream of income. The hours can be flexible (which is awesome) but the work can be inconsistent. And for someone coming from a corporate 9-5, to basically a make your own schedule situation- it’s really hard to adjust. Moving away from all your contacts & professional network is also hard. I’ll be talking more about the digital services I offer (web design, email marketing assistance, graphic design etc) in addition to my regular blog content.
Bottom line, what I’m trying to say is life isn’t a pretty picture on Instagram. I really despise this unrealistic view that most influencers put out there. Instagram is just a highlight reel. Life is messy, life can be hard, but life can also be beautiful. I think it’s important to show all sides of that.
I haven’t been sharing much because I’ve been making tons of excuses. Our house isn’t done, not a single room is complete, I don’t have a cute kitchen to shoot my recipes in….the list goes on and on. But I’m over it. I’ll be sharing the good, bad & ugly. And the before, middle & after pictures of all the projects we’ve been starting & not finishing. I think I finally feel reenergized to start sharing, writing & creating again!
Thanks for sticking by me. And if you haven’t signed up for my weekly newsletter yet (it’s making a comeback yay!)- you can sign up here!
