This year one of my focuses is working on my fitness.
I’m finally ready to make fitness part of my every day routine. I think that one of the main things, for me is to get myself mentally prepared to work out. That starts with feeling confident & feeling put together! Feeling cute mentally puts me in the right mindset to get my sweat on.

I enlisted the help of one of my besties, Valeria Munoz! She is well on her way to being a fitness guru & always has the best tips when it comes to not only workouts but fitness gear as well. She’s always matching & looking super cute (follow her on Instagram to see all her looks). We spent an afternoon talking about where & when to shop for workout clothes!
We both agreed if you’re a beginner in the fitness world- there’s no need to spend tons of money on clothes. The best places to get bargain workout gear is Marshalls, Old Navy or even Forever 21. Marshalls sells brand names such as Danskin, Under Armour, Nike & FIT (they have cute tops with inspirational messages). We both also have Fabletics leggings. Honestly, not the best quality but you can’t beat their deal for new members, 2 for $24. I’ve had mine for about a year & it’s time I donate them.
Now, if you are looking for better quality clothes, Valeria suggested either LuluLemon or Gym Shark.
Before you freak out, LuluLemon has really good sales. Valeria never buys anything for full price. If there’s a LuluLemon store near you, always check their clearance section. The one near us participates in a sidewalk sale once a year & they have great deals! On their website, there is a “We Made Too Much” tab- that’s where all their sales merchandise is. Also, if shopping online- they offer free shipping on every purchase, no matter what the dollar amount is. Their shipping is super fast & they offer free alterations. If the top you bought is too long- they will hem it for free. What a great service!

Here are Valeria’s top picks from LuluLemon:
Align Pant II, $98
These leggings are high waisted & great for leg day! The compression material helps ease the soreness you feel the day after an intense workout!
Cool Racerback II, $48
This tank is super stretchy & keeps everything sucked in. The way it’s cut covers that little bit of fat near your armpit area (you know what I’m talking about ladies!).
This bra is great quality fabric & keeps everything in place. It’s also on sale now for $39 in really cute colors!
Valeria also swears by GymShark. Now GymShark is another brand that offers high quality pieces for less money than Lulu Lemon. This brand is one of the fastest growing fitness clothing companies due to their strong social media presence. GymShark ships from the UK (the only drawback about this company) but has a great free returns policy. Once a year they have a “Blackout Sale” offering major discounts (Valeria thinks its only around Black Friday). The entire site is around 60-70% off.
Here are Valeria’s top picks from GymShark:
These high waisted leggings have a thick waist band that keeps everything in. These are super stretchy, great quality fabric & are not see through. And the print is super cute!
These seamless leggings add tons of sculpting support. The top band stays in place while working out, you don’t have to worry about your muffin top hanging out. Camel toe is not an issue in these leggings!
Energy & Seamless Cropped Leggings, $50 (some styles in the longer version are on sale for $38)
These are leggings are fashion forward & have the cutest cutout details. The high waistband sucks everything in. They also have a cute matching crop top for these leggings & they come in a bunch of different colors.
Fraction Crop Top, $25
GymShark’s tops start at $20, totally affordable! This cute crop is something I aspire to wear one day!
I’m totally taking Valeria’s advice & will start buying pieces that go together and make sense.
There’s nothing worse than wearing a ratty, oversized shirt and old worn out leggings when you’re trying to get in shape! In these pictures, these are just some of my random pieces that somewhat go together. My plan for the remainder of this month is really look for pieces that can work with leggings I already have. I’m going to start at Marshalls & I have my eye on a few Gym Shark pieces!!
Our fitness series collaboration will feature tips on how to build a home gym, workouts for beginners & much more. Keep an eye out for our next post coming next month!
