Did June fly by for anyone else? Even though it was quick, I was still able to get a few good books in!
The good news- my library is finally back open & I can request books again online. The bad news- I requested about 15 & now I have a shit ton of books to get thru before the end of this month. Obviously, I was way too excited to be able to get free books again!
Here is what I read in June:
Big Summer by Jennifer Weiner
I LOVED this book. Definitely received an A+ from me! Centered around a plus size fashion influencer (finally books are acknowledging bloggers/influencers as being a thing) & her rekindling an old friendship with a former mean girl. There is a huge twist in the middle of the story that I was completely not expecting. I thought this would be a cute story about girlfriends but it turned into something so much better. I couldn’t recommend this book more!
Honestly We Meant Well by Grant Ginder
I have to say, I didn’t love this. I really struggled with getting through it & almost gave up. This story is about a marriage on the rocks & a family trip to Greece to try and start over. The husband cheated, the wife is basically still in love with a former flame & their college age son is a mess and has no clue what he’s doing with this life. This book had so much potential but it just didn’t move quick enough for me.
Beach Read by Emily Henry
LOVED this cute romantic tale. Girls meets boy. Boy is rude as fuck. Girl is intrigued. Girl tries to ignore rude asshole for as long as she can. They end up falling in love. Your classic tale of love LOL I actually loved the plot line of this book because both of the main characters are writers. I’ve always wanted to be a novelist (a guess being a blogger is the next best thing LOL). Definitely read this book!
Happy & You Know It by Laura Hankin
I’m sort of obsessed with books about wealthy Upper East Side moms. Partly because that world is so foreign to me & partly because they all tend to be a bit crazy. This story follows Claire, an out of work musician who becomes a “playgroup musician.” Yes you heard that right- she plays music for these Mommy & Me classes for rich women in NYC. She begins to get really close to these women & even form friendships with some. But these women have secrets & Claire sees another side to the “good life.” This book is a page turner!
