Happy New Year! Let’s start 2020 off on the right foot by participating in Dry January.
This is the third year I’ll be abstaining from alcohol for the entire month of January (minus one day where I have a wine tasting I already RSVP’d yes for LOL).
Dry January is such a great way to reset your system after all the crap that was consumed during the holidays.
Most people have a New Years resolution or goal to lose weight or get healthy. I too also have this on my “to-do” list for the new year. Last year I started to really execute this goal….and then fell off the wagon. I think by making tiny changes this year instead of completely overhauling my diet & exercise routine, I will have more success in my goal to get healthy.
Generally, your body feels good without the excess booze. You have a clear head, more energy & sleep better. I know it seems impossible to go a whole month without drinking alcohol, but trust it’s doable. If you are anything like me, January is a month of hibernation (the cold weather can suck it) so social outings will be far & few between. Trust me, try it!

Another positive of not drinking alcohol, your immune system will be stronger. Alcohol weakens your immune system therefore making it easier for you to get sick. And hello we’re like in the middle of flu season, so nobody has time for that!
At the end of the day, it’s good to just reevaluate your relationship with alcohol and take a breather sometimes.
We just ended probably the most social time of the year for some of us, so taking a time out won’t hurt. And if you want to go even further- try to ditch plastic water bottles while you’re at it. Carry around a glass water bottle with you so you keep hydrated during the day & use a glass straw when you can!
Who else will be joining me in the dry January challenge?
