I finally got around to reading the third book in the Crazy Rich Asian trilogy- Rich People Problems.
It had everything you could want in a book- drama, heartbreak, death & a happy ending. Kevin Kwan really does a great job of pulling the veil back & letting you see the behind the scenes of the wealthy Asian culture. The amount of money these families have is CRAZY. They are the definition of “first world problems.”
Without getting too much into the synopsis, basically the matriarch of the Young family is on her death bed all hell breaks lose. Everyone is worried about their inheritance & who will become the new owner of Tyersall Park (yes these people are so rich they name their homes).
The drama the ensues is comical yet completely unrelatable. I kind of like reading books that are so far removed from my own lifestyle, it’s nice to get lost in other people’s problems & dramas. I also found it so ridiculous how these different families & dynasties were fighting over who was more powerful and wealthier. Like chill people, there’s room for everyone! Ever heard of community over competition?
I thought this final book in the Crazy Rich Asian trilogy was really excellent & the perfect ending.
If you are in the mood for a funny, easy beach read- then definitely read this series this summer. And best yet, all three books are available as paperbacks (I don’t know about you, but I prefer paperbacks when pool or beachside).
Check out my thoughts on the first book in this series HERE. Realized I didn’t write a post about the second book- oops!
