This book was AMAZING!
If you like a good thriller or a book with twists & turns, then definitely read this book. No Exit written by Taylor Adams is a suspenseful novel about one snowy night from hell. Darby, a college student, is driving home to Utah to rush to her dying mother’s side when she gets stuck in a treacherous blizzard in the mountains of Colorado. She pulls over to a rest area because the highways are being shut down. She is one of five strangers trapped at this rest stop for the night with no cell reception. Desperate to get updates on her ill mother, Darby walks around in the parking lot looking for a signal. And that’s when she sees it. A little girl locked in a dog crate in the back of a van.
A million questions run through Darby’s mind- whose van is this? Who would do something like this to a innocent child? What kind of monster locks a human being in a dog crate? And that’s when it hits her- the kidnapper has to be one of the strangers she stranded with. What will she do now that she has this information? Will she save the girl or keep her mouth shut so she can get home to her dying mother in one piece.
Let me tell you- it took me about 3, maybe 4 nights to read this book. I could not put it down.
I stayed up way too late reading this because I just could not stop reading about Darby’s adventure. The story was captivating right from the very beginning. There were so many plot twists that I SO did not see coming. This book gave me so much anxiety- I couldn’t even imagine being stranded in the middle of nowhere without cell service with a bunch of strangers, let alone with someone who I know is a kidnapper.
I don’t want to give too much away, but I definitely don’t think I would have had the strength or courage that Darby demonstrated. First of all, being stranded somewhere in the middle of the night with a bunch of strangers sounds terrible enough. I would totally be freaking out & thinking that someone was going to kill me (for some reason I have an irrational fear that I’m going to be murdered!). The fortitude that Darby displayed was extraordinary. I loved that she is an unlikely hero- an introverted college kid who kind of flew under the radar her whole life. I think she was even surprised to see what she was capable of!
I honestly could not recommend this book more!
Run, don’t walk to your nearest library to check this novel out (always trying to promote using your local library vs. buying from Amazon). The terrifying turns this book takes will keep you on the edge of your seat. Like reading it late at night in bed probably wasn’t the best idea. Did I have some nightmares- yes. Do I get scared very easily- yes. Bottom line- get this book & read it ASAP!
