The Berkshires is one of my favorite places to visit!! My family & I always visit in the fall when the air is crisp & fresh. I just love how peaceful & quiet it is. It feels so good to disconnect from technology for a weekend and just be outside!
We stay at the same place every time at Jiminy Peak Mountain in Hancock, MA. The rooms are great- they are all set-up as suites with kitchens so you can stay in & cook if you don’t feel like going out for every meal. I actually prefer this. Staying in together is a great way for everyone to connect over a home cooked meal. It’s not rushed like it is on a normal day- coming home from work, hurriedly throwing a meal together for your family to eat. It feels really nice to sit, talk & lounge while making a more elaborate meal than normal.
My favorite part about the resort is probably the small country store. You can get anything in there from socks with moose on them to wine & cheese. They make breakfast every morning & have a great little coffee bar. Also- the lobby of the resort serves hot apple cider all day long…..so good!
There are tons of things to do around the Berkshires. I however would have no clue what they are!! Seriously, we literally unplug & do next to nothing when we’re up there. We do however go down the street to this local farm & pumpkin patch! There are tons of farm animals to visit (great attraction for kids!) and you can take a tractor drive down to the amazing pumpkin patch pictured above. The only other “activity” we take part is going to the outlets if it’s raining. The Bass outlet is surprisingly my favorite- they have tons of great booties and flannels.
The view is absolutely breathtaking. Their fields go for miles & you can see the beautiful mountains in the distance. There is also a small cafe that serves lunch…and apple cider donuts! I LOVE apple cider donuts (I know, I’m a basic b*tch)- but if you ever get the chance to buy homemade apple cider donuts directly from a farm- DO IT! They are SO much better than store bought.
This year there’s a plot twist….we are going to the Berkshires in December instead of October. Very excited (hot tub anyone?) but also slightly terrified (skiing, snowboarding- nightmare situation for me!). I have a feeling I’ll be roped into winter sports (this girls doesn’t do sports) & I’d much rather be reading a book by the fire sipping on a hot chocolate. I am excited to see the mountain covered in snow & to see the resort all decorated for Christmas (my favorite holiday). I’ll do another post how that trip goes! And we’re bringing Eva this time so it should be interesting!
