Ok so here it goes. I’m going to be super vulnerable right now. Over the past 4 years, I have gained 50 pounds. I’m completely embarrassed to admit it! I used to be very disciplined in going to the gym & eating somewhat healthyish. And then I met my now boyfriend (who is 6’5″ and can eat steak for breakfast, lunch & dinner by the way) and started gaining the “new relationship” weight. I knew I needed to change when my clothes finally started to become way too tight & I didn’t feel comfortable in ANYTHING anymore. I needed to modify my eating & add regular exercise back into my routine.
I became inspired when I went to the Popsugar Playground event with my bestie Mariam. This was a female empowerment event thrown by Popsugar (a lifestyle website) & Kayla Itsines was one of the featured guests. I had heard about her workout plan/app beforehand and was curious to see what it was all about. Part of the event was a 20 minute workout led by Kayla. Needless to say, I thought I was dying afterwards. But I was hooked. Her workout plan is a 4 week beginner program mixing both cardio & strength training. It continues with a more advanced program- in total the workouts last for 12 weeks. This is all done through her app, Sweat.
Of course I procrastinated in starting the program, but as my 31st birthday approaches (insert rolling eye emoji here) I knew I needed to make this my year of change. My goal is to lose all 50 pounds this year & then some if possible. I’ll keep you guys posted along the way of my progress. I’m tired of the yo-yo dieting & inconsistent workouts. It’s time for a lifestyle change & time to stop eating like my twice my size boyfriend!
