During quarantine I’ve taken up a new favorite pastime- taking baths.
I can’t even remember the last time I took a proper bath before quarantine. I’m definitely more of a shower girl, but I forgot how relaxing & serene taking a bath could be. I prefer taking a bath right before going to bed, just to unwind & destress from the day.
A few of my bath time essentials are bath bombs, a bath soak & a good book. Pampering my skin during my bath is a must. I put on a face mask, add a bath bomb and a few scoops of bath soak to the bath tub and I am good to go.

I started to buy bath bombs & epsom salt based bath soaks but realized it was really adding up! As you all know, I’m a DIY lover so I did some research on how I could create my own luxurious bath experience without breaking the bank.
Now I have to be honest, my bath bombs aren’t the best. Because I don’t use citric acid in mine (the ingredient that usually holds the shape of the bomb & makes it fizzy), they don’t immediately break down when hitting the water. I researched other ingredients to use to produce a bit of a fizz but also be great for your skin. I found the mixture of baking soda, cornstarch & apple cider vinegar to be the next best thing. And honestly, I use the bombs for more skincare reasons than watching the fun fizz!
Bath Bombs:
1 cup Baking Soda
1/2 cup Corn Starch
5 tbsp. apple cider vinegar
10 drops lavender essential oil
10 drops stress away essential oil
2-4 tbsp. fractionated coconut oil
Mix all ingredients in a medium size bowl (stir vigorously when adding the apple cider vinegar & avoid fizzing if you can). Pack mixture (it should feel like wet sand) into a mini cupcake tin. You can use a bath bomb mold, I just wanted to use what I had around the house. Leave in the freezer for at least 24 hours so mixture can harden. Store in an air tight container & use at least 2 bath bombs at a time.
The bath soak is definitely my favorite thing ever. It’s hydrates your skin, smells phenomenal & calms sore, achy muscles. I use coconut oil infused Epsom salts for extra hydration!! Pour about 1/4 cup of bath soak into your tub while it’s filling up & use with 1-2 bath bombs for extra moisturizing benefits.

Some other bath essentials: a tray to hold all your goodies, a good book, a scented candle or diffuser & a Turkish bath towel. I love to read in the bath or I prop my iPad up & watch a show on Netflix (currently watching the second season of Dead to Me). Turkish towels are super absorbent even though they are so lightweight. If that’s not your thing- these plush towels are my fav! PS don’t buy the extra large towels like I did, way too heavy & big!
